Summer Residential Assistant

Dates of Employment: June 8 - July 18, 2026

​

  • living in residence halls and supervising high school students

  • organizing and implementing activities

  • enforcing rules and regulations

  • assisting students with academic and personal growth in preparation for college

  • professional role-modeling

Qualifications: 

  • completion of at least freshman/sophomore year of college

  • leadership skills and ability to be a positive role model

  • ability to work as a team player and independently

  • good verbal communication skills

  • ability to demonstrate initiative

  • academic success in college (~2.5 GPA)

  • willingness to work full-time with no other commitments from Sundays at 7 PM to Fridays at 5 PM

  • ability to relate to (or previous experience working with) teens from lower-income, rural environments

ADMINISTRATIVE SECRETARY

Full time/hourly with benefits, reports to the Director of Upward Bound.

 

Qualifications: High school diploma/GED required, certification or associates degree + preferred. Experience with word processing, excel, computer software programs and client databases. One or more years office management experience. Skill in interpersonal communication, filing, organization and administrating office activities. Previous experience working with the target population preferred.

 

Major Duties:  Manage Upward Bound Office. Provide voucher, purchasing and financial record keeping in line with the Project’s budget. Maintain project’s data systems and files according to Department of Education regulations. Maintain project’s and student records. Assist other staff with planning, development, and implementation of project services.

PROGRAM COUNSELOR

 

Responsibilities include academic, career and personal guidance counseling as well as college prep education and guidance for college bound students on outreach basis. 

​

Masters degree preferred, or currently pursing a Master’s degree in secondary education or human services field.  Must be available to work one Saturday a month. Possession of vehicle and valid driver’s license required. Applicants with low income/first generation college background encouraged to apply.

IN-SCHOOL CONTACT

Open to faculty & staff at target high school only.

 

Expectations: 

  • Represent & promote Upward Bound in your school.

  • Provide support to a group of approximately 10 students enrolled in the UB program.

  • Act as a liaison between students & the UB office.

  • Assist students with school and community projects.

  • Provide support to the UB Counselor for in-school visits and after-school sessions.

  • Assist in facilitating tutoring for UB students.

  • Acquire and provide student records to UB office as needed.

 

Terms of Employment: 

  • Approximately 5 hours per month

  • $25.00 per hour / usually $125 per month

  • September 1, 2023 through May 31, 2024

(with option for renewal yearly)
