UB Summer 2023 [Week Review #2]

Last week was quite crazy, and this one is no different! With spirit week and the UB Olympics, we were booked this time around.

🎫MONDAY🎫

Classes resumed as usual. Monday was twin day and I guess you could say we were #twining!...

Bad joke? Yeah, that's fair. Alex's SA group won group of the week and they all got five dollars. In the evening we went to Cinamark and watch a movie of our choice. Some students went to see the new Spiderman movie, others went to Elemental, and the rest saw Transformers. There were laughs, tears, and many people happy and enraged. (Editor Sky note: Im not gonna give spoilers but the ending of Across the Spiderverse, if you can call it an ending, made me so mad >:( )

🏐TUESDAY🏀

Tuesday was Tye-dye day and you could say it was to dye for!...still bad? Yeah, I'm not going to stop. The competition was high, as it was UB Olympic tryout day! Students went and tried out for teams and events to see if they made the cut. There were many people singing their hearts out, sweating their brains out, and duking it out in Smash Bros.

🤑WEDNESDAY🤑

In the morning, we did the Mad City Money training where we got to simulate what it's like to budget. life is expensive...very expensive. Today was Wacky Tacky Wednesday and it was, well wacky. No evening activity, as right after virtual learning we got to go to bed. We had to get up around 3-4 in the morning for the UB Olympics. It was nice to relax a bit before the chaos of the morning.

🥈THURSDAY🥈

On Thursday we woke up bright and early to get ready to go to Concord for the Upward Bound Olympics. The Olympics is a competition against other Upward Bound programs across West Virginia. There are plenty of activities for students to compete in, such as track, cross country, UB Idol, oratory, volleyball, basketball, and lots more! Salem overall came in second place!!! We got to stop for a snack at Sheetz and got back to hit the hay. We slept good that night, so good.

✨FRIDAY✨

Today is College pride day and I guess you could say we showed our future with pride!...yeah that one had no effort. We got our participation money today as well. A sweet, crisp $30 lays in my pocket for use. Thanks for the dollarydoos, Tim!

Overall this week has been the definition of crazy, but I had fun. Now we get to go home for the Fourth of July! Have a great holiday y'all!
