Our first Saturday Sessions of the 2016-17 started off the academic year with a bang! We took 30 students to visit Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park near Parkersburg, WV.

Students rode the "Island Belle" sternwheeler over to the historic island on the Ohio river. They got to tour the Blennerhassett Mansion and step back in time to learn about what life was like in the early 1800s for Harman and Margaret Blennerhassett. They also explored the island on a horse-drawn carriage and learned about the history of the island itself. After a picnic lunch and a stop at the gift shop, they boarded the sternwheeler for the ride back to the bus with a sense of history and adventure!
